Shawnee Mission FIRST Robotics Teams Compete

Robotics Teams representing all five high schools in the Shawnee Mission School District are competing in the 10th anniversary FIRST Robotics Competition.

Since competition launched in January, students have been working to build robots that can complete specific tasks. This year, the robotics game challenge is called Stronghold.

”Alliances of three robots each are on a quest to breach opponents’ fortifications, weaken their tower with boulders, and capture the opposing tower,” according to the First Robotics website.

FIRST stands for “For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology” and is a multinational non-profit that works to engage students in learning about science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
